It often occurs while browsing the net or magazines that I look on in envy at contemporary leading edge art exhibitions being held in other capital cities, hoping that Dublin was playing host. Well, currently one artist capable of such a show is in Dublin. In Ireland for the first time courtesy of the Sebastian Guinness Gallery, Tresury Holdings and Canon. Renowned American photographer David LaChapelle displays his new show titled 'American Jesus' (Above Photo 'The loaves and the fishes').
The launch event last night was really enjoyable, and LaChapelle has provided a workshop this afternoon fans and fellow photographers. To grasp the full range of projects and campaigns LaChappelle has worked on, check out his website, and the show is running until the 31st of October, well worth a visit.

The show it self is fascinating, and each master piece manages to look like a bible scene and a century old painting, while actually being a contemporary photograph of models littered with brands and consumerism innuendo's. The show also includes his 'under water' series and '50 dollar bill' series, as well as the wonderful tribute to Michael Jackson (below).
